  • I guess your 10-7

  • Haven't you ever been told that whistling when transmitting is one of the worst things you can do to tube-type equipment?? Really puts the tube(s) through severe torment, but I guess if I had a boatload of 500z's lying around I wouldn't mind toasting one every now and then...but my pockets aren't lined with Benjamins so I'm taking it easy on the ones I have and hope they last.

  • @dogtagsvette Well, I'm ashamed of my self for rising to the bait! Fact is, I could pick up a CB mike anytime I felt like it. But this guy had a couple of true statements. As Amateur operators, we are at risk of loosing the bands. We ought to be encouraging CB operators to come aboard and license up. It doesn't mean they can't still use their favorite band. The code is gone and the license stuff are things you need to know anyway to enhance your operating. Check local clubs for help...

  • Oh, well, this video convinced me that CB rules. I'll dump my "Hambone" license rit now so I can get packed onto 40 some odd channels with my lee nar where I can talk all over the world in the daytime and NO where at night. A place where I can screw up my neighbors TV even though he uses cable. A place where my kids can hear foul language to emulate. A place without repeaters, satellites, data transmissions, and legal high power.....ahhhh....yes, CB rules. NOT!

  • @xlisiv Sounds like you need a visit from my Uncle Charlie!

  • Henry 2K sitting on the side of me keeping me warm right now.. :-)

  • I had an amp with 2 500z's , and it would dim every light in the house when keyed . love the Tube gear .

  • This video easily shows the lack of common sense of the CB community in general.

  • why would you like to blow them up?!?!?!! you dusche

  • @xlisiv Cool, RF parts still produces 500z's so you better have a deep wallet....

I do not know where you got that info from, they are built to be modulated and provided the CCW ratings are not exceeded they can run all day. with any modulation frequency If not there would be no AM radio. The data sheets for a 3-500z make no mention of any amplitude modulation frequencies to avoid.

  • The blue glow aroud is caused by ionization of he argon, a gas commonly used to keep the equilibrium inside valve´s atmosphere with environment one. It is normal and there´s no problem to valve. The problem shown on this video was Plate Overload that overloaded its power supply untill circuitbreak goes off.

Anyway this is the amazing tube and homebrew projetc. :)
