  • Throughout this clip, the message that struck me most was giving children a voice. Allowing each individual to be heard with assistive technologies to support their learning in the class is an entitlement but I do agree that more awareness should be given to professionals to incorporate these types of technologies for children who not only suffer from sensory impairments, but for some teachers there is a resistance to incorporating new media in their daily teaching for the benefit of all students

  • @MissAyer1 Yes, it is all about giving children the voice! Teachers need to be aware of the learning capabilities of these children and design programs accordingly. And yes i do agree that there is a resistance to incorporting new media into daily teaching, (definatley apparent in alot of primaryh school classrooms with older teachers!) but everyone should know that a lot of these teachnologies can be beneficial to students without impairments or special needs as well!

  • We know as educators that we need to individualise learning for our students but I think that teachers are not equipped fully with the skills they may need to implement these technologies. We can see the benefits that assistive technologies have and we as future educators need to embrace them.

  • @sarahhammo11 I agree that more teachers need to be equipped with the skills to use these technologies. As with all professional learning surrounding the use of technology, teachers cannot expect to be handed a 'how to' manual on how to use and implement these technologies. Effective, motivated teachers who want to make a difference to their students' learning will endeavour to find this information themselves. We definatley need to embrace assistive technology. The opportunities are endless!

  • It is just so important that we as teachers realise that technology can be so much more than just showing something on a computer, or using an IWB. This video clearly shows educators that if they utlise the technologies available they can actually change a learning experience for a child with either a visual or hearing impairment. Through technologies such as this we are able to open up learning opportunities for all students no matter their circumstance. A brilliant movie. Congratulations!

  • This is a great video! There are so many ways we can use technology to assist those with hearing impairments. This video reminded me of the huge range of different needs each individual student has - technology provides a huge range of tools we can use to support the learning of so many children!

  • I found this clip every inspirational.. I would love to see future teacher embrace technologies such as assistive technology. The benefits this can bring to a child is life changing and every child deserves a shot at a proper education. I feel there needs to be more training and awareness on technologies such as this one, As we can see form the clip the benefits are endless and can change a persons life.
