  • Well, wastewasted3, show us how it should be done. Oh, don't tell me, Kenneth Brannagh's version is better, blah, blah, blah. I don't think so! And neither is Olvier's version 'dull and uninspiring', as you put it. I suppose what you think of as a roaring speech translates as the actor bawling the speech out at the top of his voice, which some mistakenly deem as great acting. This is the speech of a king, not some left wing rant by Arthur Scargill.

  • Brannagh's version is more passionate to modern ears and places it better into the context of battle, but its harder to interpret. Oliviers delivery on the other hand enables a much better understanding line by line, and brings meaning to the often impenetrable language, which is the whole point. A true master.

  • 'arry for England!

  • There is No Future in England's Dreaming...

  • Fuck the fascists, this is simply English, spoken by Sir Lawrence!

They take the best of us for there own cause................. DO NOT PUT ANY SHAKEPEARIAN PLAY DOWN TO THOSE UNEDUCATED FOOLS, THIS IS PROSE AT ITS BEST!!!

  • I don't care what any of you say, it's Sheakspear, spoken as a warior king, a great rendition by a great actor, they don't make them like that anymore.......

  • God for Harry! England! and Saint George !

  • KB´s is far better...you are in war! No having a cup of tea....My respects for this version, but....

  • If ever England needed a miracle its now....

  • I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips straining upon the start. The games afoot, follow your spirit and upon this charge cry God for Harry, England and St. George.

  • Beautiful, it's a shame it has to be affiliated with the BNP, or any party for that matter. It's a work of art, not a political machination that Olivier/Brannagh have acted out.
