  • That's just silly talk saying it looks horrible there's far worse games on the 64 much more worthy of that statement. The graphics here are really well drawn, just take a look at the car below the main game window, it looks ace. The game overall graphically, is not all that far away from the Amiga version, and for all the C64's limitations this is a damn good example of the game.

  • I want to pretend to misunderstand that & make some kind of clever joke, but I'm too lazy.

  • @RibNSpicY I have just an amstrad and c64, so I can't say anything about the speccy version of outrun by own experience. but given the youtube videos of it, the c64 is by far the better one. I might be just as biased as you though, since I got the c64 version from my father as a birthday gift back in the day.

  • This game looks sorta OK.

  • As a kid I first owned a Spectrum, then an Amstrad CPC and finally a C64 before I moved onto Nintendo and Sega. This video just proves to me C64 couldnt do racing games. I had outrun for my Speccy (In fact, i still have it upstairs) Was a mint version of the game, got it for my C64, it was horrible, yeah it had colour but theres just something about C64 that it didnt seem to do good car games and IMO this video has just confirmed it for me as the speccy version of this game also looks better!

  • @RoderickStrong I have to agree here I played the C64 version earlier on today and to be honest I thought it lacked a sense of speed.

Then I played the Amiga version after and then I thought ooooh no wonder the Lotus games are highly regarded

  • I like the colliding sound: snare! :D

  • That's the sweetest skidding sounds I ever heard :)

  • I would like to see a game like this attempted on the dragon 32.

Although that system has crap colours it is better than a c64 for processing information and if you can get past the stupid colours, the graphics aren't bad.

  • I know, but i'm saying it would look this gd on NES

  • But this is a C64.
