Wow, for some wacked out reason my other review wasn't allowed for revenue. Why? I have no idea, so here is the dumbed down version that totally sucks visually but at least my review is up.

  • What exactly did James Cameron STEAL? tell me please cuz i would like to know exactly what you and all the other people bitching about this fine movie have their panties in a bunch about? There are TONS of movies that are inspired by something else, nothing is truly original but you tell me where else you saw a movie that had a planet as alive as Pandora in full 3D. It's a cinematic experience you people need to get the hell over it.

  • Excellent point. I've been in a constant argument with the malcontented pseudo-critics of the youtube comment arena. I have stated previously that I do not regard an opinion as anything but a personal, relative thing; but the pursuit of dissuading others from experiencing a damn movie is purely selfish. I appreciate your views on the movie, they are very similar to mine and I suppose for that reason I am also selfish, but I personally think this is an excellent review and an excellent movie.

  • wow, well worded and very kind of you sir

  • The fact remains that the story IS cliche, even Cameron described it as Dances with wolves. Besides that, I can name a few more; Gorillas in the mist, Pocahontas and Ferngully. You can't just side step the story and jump on the CGI train. Thats really the problem, everyone jumps on the CG.

Funny though, I knew you were going to rank it gold as soon as I realized that most of today's audience, are idiots who still suckle at the Titanic teat.

  • This is a case where CGI helped tell a story. People want to say the movie wasn't original but what movie is? Film today is inspired of something else, almost all stories are familiar. A story doesn't need to be never heard before to be enjoyable it's the way it's told and Avatar has plenty of things nobody has seen before ever. This movie definitely deserves a Gold, is it one of the best movies of the year? It's not on my top 10 but it surely deserves acclaim.

  • Great review, Fury. I agree, the movie may have had some cliché moments here and there and a predictable story, but nevertheless, I thought it was epic in every other single aspect. It had easily the best SFX I had ever seen, and the most realistic and alive CG characters in history. Despite its flaws, I can say with honesty that James Cameron has delivered yet again, and I'm happy to say that the King is back!

  • Eh, it wasn't that good. I enjoyed it, but it was kind of long.

  • @FuryoftheFilmFan dances with wolves its the exact some thing but in space

  • @TheBoomViper I'm fully aware of what of the purpose and impact Avatar and other films have on the world whether its socially, environmentally, or politically. I watch and enjoy a lot of films, both simple (Hot tub Time Machine) and complex (Inception), but awesome nontheless. South Parks not all toilet humor, for over a decade its have a lot to say as a social commentary and satire on social issues and world events. Going back to my original comment: I made a joke cause it was funny to me -fin

  • @soggyt13

Better still, stick to watching South Park. You're obviously incapable of understanding and enjoying films that ask you to use your head.

  • @TheBoomViper Well of course except you can't melt them down into gold HAHA LOL!!! Dude I'm fucking with you, accept the joke and move on. Its not a big deal, I'm not trying to make some thickheaded political point with you. For the 1000th time I'm riffing on a South Park joke because it was .......wait for it..........funny. Learn to see the lighter side of life, I'm not trying to piss you off, I'm just trying to put what I'm saying into proper context.

  • @soggyt13

Oh, that's your Smurf-excuse? So if you painted the Indians in Pocahontas blue, that would give them Smurf-like characteristics too, right?

  • @TheBoomViper Well, their blue, live in a village, love nature, and they are valuable to a powerful white man (but in Avatar's case their land is). As for the whole serious part, I meant the whole Dances With Smurfs joke is not meant to be taken seriuosly because I am riffing on a joke itself.

  • @soggyt13

I already specified the serious real-life elements found in Avatar. Whether you chose to take them seriously is your problem. And how, pray tell, do the Na'vi share Smurf-characteristics?

  • @TheBoomViper LOL dude, I never said DWW plot was original, i know all that stuff. I was just riffing on a South Park joke they made about it, its funny deal with it, that part shouldn't be taken seriuosly. And they have characterisitcs of Smurfs.

  • @soggyt13

First, they're not smurfs. Second, DWW is not original in itself; this type of story has existed for a very long time. DWW re-told it, Pocahontas re-told it, Avatar re-told it. Each film has retold this story with its own great storytelling. Avatar also deals with real issues that exist here on Earth, so that part should be taken seriously.

  • @TheBoomViper why so much hate? its a great movie, but the plot is essentially dance with wolves, but with blue people. have some fun, its not all supposed to be taken seriuosly
