During the last quarter century, countertenors have become more familiar to the public. It is difficult to imagine how unusual Deller's voice sounded to some listeners 50 years ago.

So beautiful...what a great and personal interpretation...i enjoyed very much again and again...!

A wonderful rendition, Mr. Deller is a joy to listen to. I do however sympathize with Igor Stravinsky's jocose sentiment wishing for the return of castrati.

Wow!!! very nice!

one of the all time great voices. You can well imagine him performing before Queen Elizabeth I, or in any royal court.
-
At last someone is singing it at the pace and expressions which match the sentiments of the words, and not racing through it like the pudding was getting cold.

i sing this song at the moment in my education! wonderful music!
-
I like the general tempo of it, but i don't agree with the slowing down in the run on 'fly'. it should keep flying on towards the next phrase. but i really like the way he articulates so precisely

I like the different pace. The part where it slightly quickens sounds nice (as contrast). I like the pure tone quality and not overdoing of vibrato and singing with emotion!

time to buy his cds and fall asleep, marvelous
I attempt from love's sickness to fly in vain,
for I am myself my own fever,
for I am myself my own fever and pain.
Now more now, no more noww, fond heart, with pride,
no more swell thou canst not raise forces,
thou canst not raise forces enough to rebel;
I attempt from love's sickness to fly in vain,
for I am myself my own fever,
for I am myself my own fever and pain.
