John Clare the poet was born July 13: 1793, in a peasant tenement in the English country village of Helpston, Northamptonshire. Whilst he and his family lived in poverty and after achieving fame for his writing, for many years he lived in asylums. This is a love story, dating back to his schooldays.

In 2007 the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded £1.27 million to The John Clare Trust to revert the cottage with luxury kitchen and gardens back to their 19th century features.
