Sirone (Norris Jones) died on Wednesday 21st October 2009 in Berlin, at the age of 69. He was one of the finest free jazz bassists, appearing on recordings with Pharoah Sanders, Noah Howard, Sonny Sharrock, Marion Brown, Dewey Redman, Cecil Taylor, Phalanx, and, most famously, The Revolutionary Ensemble, with Leroy Jenkins and Jerome Cooper. This bass solo comes from the Marion Brown album 'Why Not', released on ESP Disk in the late 60s. The drummer is Rashied Ali, who also recently passed away.
