Bop-A-Lena is best known for the version released by Ronnie Self but it was written by Mel TIllis. The Nonstop is a rockabilly band from Cedar Falls, Iowa. Reunion performance after a 20 year hiatus. At Stebs Reunion Party which was held at Spicoli's Grill in Waterloo, Ia on July 25, 2009. Band members: Eddie Scott Esbeck; Al Schares; Kip "Skee" Powell and Ed Flack.

  • @CaptainPrivate: I listen to a lot of 50s stuff, this is my interpretation of a drum groove that worked best within the context of this band for that song. Basically a fast swing as was done a lot during the 50s before "rock drumming" as its own style was really defined. I agree with you about the Stray Cats and Ronnie Self – I like their music too.

  • Good job but the drumer should listen to some 50's recordings (especially this song) and play in that style. Try a straight 4/4 or 8/8 feel on the snair. Listen to the Stray Cats, Ronnie Self etc.
