In the early years of the Fab Four, they recorded many covers of Motown classics (which they greatly admired). Famous examples are their soulful versions of "Please Mr. Postman" (originally done by The Marvelettes)...and the song included here, "You Really Got A Hold On Me", written by none other than the great Smokey Robinson for his own legendary group,The Miracles. The Fab's studio-version of the song (recorded at EMI, Abbey Road) is found on their 2nd UK album "With The Beatles" released in England on Nov 22, 1963 (ominously on the very same day of the JFK assassination in the U.S.) The version in my video is the RARE LIVE BBC recording from 1964. JPG&R made time in their incredibly busy schedule that year to produce a weekly radio program called "Pop Go The Beatles" w/ legendary British DJ Brian Matthews--I pieced together some bits of conversation from that long-lost show and edited into the body of the video to accompany this rare live performance of "YRGAHOM" Trust me, this is some TRULY classic stuff...and the Beatles are the greatest band in music history. They will never be surpassed.

thx..It's rare to see some color concert footage from Hard Day's Night (and pre-HDN) period--thanks to the Pathe ppl in Britain, they managed to immortalize some great moments in the Fab's earliest years. It was a joy to incorporate some of it into this video.
