Perl Jam changed, Metallica changed, Goo Goo Dolls changed a lot. Bands change. I imagine it would be dull as a creative to do the same thing over and over as lip service to fans. Its not selling out to do something different. It still sounds great, is original, and is not indicative of the entire album anyway.
