Hi John! Thanks for your time searching and doing this video and book. It looks as if you have learned the stuff well, also the history of Son and Changüí which many books i´ve read got it all wrong, as they don't do any research, just write the book to make the quick money, even if what they write is garbage. good luck with your projects. keep it up!!!

It really can't be done without a bunch of work on the nut and bridge. I don't know why you would do that anyway. The whole feel of the tres is because of the way it is constructed. It makes more sense to think of it as a single note, percussion instrument instead of a "guitar like" rhythm instrument.
Many people do convert guitars into a tres, but I have never heard of anyone doing the opposite.

Great video - could you credit the musicians please? Also, since people are asking for more bass, you can boost the bass pretty easily using a parametric EQ.
