Hmm, I don't know, if you open it as described in this video, then you're opening it at the end that has that little hard dark chunk that you always throw away with the peel. Doing it this way requires you to pick it off with your fingers first, which is messier.
Wow, that's amazing, I wanna try it. o.o But it doesn't surprise me that most of us opened from the stem all our lives... I mean, our environment requires us to pull tabs every day; we open doors with doorknobs, cars with handles, windows with latches, etc. so naturally we'd grab for the part of the banana that sticks out, even if it's less efficient. xD
