DT-MRI (Diffusion Tensor - Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is an advanced medical imaging technique that allows in vivo measuring of location and orientation of nerve fibers in human brain. Water molecules move (diffuse) along nerve fibers, and the diffusion anisotropy can be measured and displayed.
Here, a 3D brain tensor field is sliced with a plane, and diffusion tensors are displayed as rectangular glyphs. Colors of the glyphs correspond to orientation of nerve fibers, and their orientation corresponds to diffusion anisotropy.
