Because (to steal a line from Tommy Tiernan) there is a huge brick wall in the English language that restricts the spirit of the Irish (or Scottish in Connolly's case) and the word 'fuck' is his chisel.

@laudidarkmist - Pardon my interest , I dearly love the man, but seek to discover why he sent 25 years bellowing fuck every other word then when he sits with his wife he is a saintly Choir Boy ? the riddle ? I do not condemn the use of the word FUCK, fuck no , but merely bring up the question as to why he consciously eliminates that word from his vocabulary here .... And an arse of a comedian? He's funny. He's articulate and yes, he's offensive but only if your head is stuck so far up your own arse that you can't see the funny side.
