Mixxx is free open source software for DJs. In this video, I show off Mixxx's vinyl control support by scratching with a Serato vinyl and my X-Session Pro MIDI controller. http://www.mixxx.org

  • FRIEND A QUESTION YOUR YOU HAVE YOUR TORNAMESA USB AND CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE PC OR HAVE THE AUDIO INTERFACE SERATO OR ONLY WITH SERATO's VINYL YOU CAN WORK PLEASE IT ANSWERS I NEED THIS INFORMATION

  • @cocolodjcuenca We've tested Mixxx with regular USB audio interfaces. As long as the Tornamesa USB audio interface has a stereo line-in jack, it should work.

  • so do you like the x-fader on the xsession pro? is it pretty loose?

  • @UglyToontown Yeah, it's pretty loose. It's not quite optical-fader loose, but it's workable.

  • dude how in gods name did you set this up??! is that a usb turntable? I have a hercules steel and want to use it as a mixer with dual turntables, what soundcard would I need?? or should I just get two usb turntables?

  • @poppinkino Yeah, just two USB soundcards would work...

  • @steeltownbrown52 Xwax is great if you just want a dedicated vinyl control system and you're running Linux. If you want a more advanced library, BPM detection, and MIDI controller support, then you'll probably want to stick with Mixxx. Each have their own strengths and weaknesses, so just download both and try them! They're free!

  • this is genious!!

  • wait how did you make the turntable work with that software?

  • I'm not understanding the delay discussion. You can play a real analog instrument, like a guitar, with no discernible delay by using an interface and ASIO, so how exactly is this different?

Im not interested in performing...what I am interested in is finding a way to use a MIDI controller to get authentic scratches, a la 90s hip hop, Primo type shit, where a vocal file is used as the scratch track over a beat. For recording. I don't care if it's not feasible in a live setting. Is this possible?

  • esta bn culero tu video

  • :-o

  • Game, loose the computer, get some real wax and learn your technique.

It's near impossible to work with that much delay.

after you get a better feel for it, then maybe get a Rane Serato

I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but I have over 20 years on the tables.

  • I'm a complete noob to this, so I gotta ask what mixer you are using. I'm thinking about having a similar set -up to this to have i my dorm room.

    Thanks

  • @vicepc8

no, its not. I mean, you can't use it to make sharp cuts and real scratching. It's really good gear for its price, but the xfader is not the best thing it has

  • Hey, im gonna buy an x session pro. can you tell me if the cross fader is responsive.

    thnx :)

  • @elewsive Better sound meaning no worn out records etc. Serato and Traktor basically just expand upon using real vinyl and allow for an even broader working tool set, but even for just legitimate two decks and vinyl setup, Serato is that and just if that that's all you care for, but more if you want.

  • @elewsive Then check out Serato - $600 tops and is identical to Vinyl that allows one to not wear out their records, have an infinite library and essentially turn any song into an LP, yeah dude...I think you're seriously just confused here mate, why would you even say that? That makes no sense, and there's a shit ton of reviews - even Q-Bert - saying that Serato and Traktor Scratch are nay identical to using vinyl - because it IS vinyl. And no conceivable latency at all, plus better sound.
