It'd be interesting to see if the Cure would have turned out if Dempsey had stayed on instead of Simon - whether they still would have become what they are today.

Michael Dempsey really takes off at the end of this song. I´ve heard hundreds of versions of 10:15 - this one is without questioning the greatest. It would be nice to see more Cure-performances with this line-up.

Lawrence Tolhurst is better than Jason Cooper on drums!

Dempsey was not "kicked" out of the group. The distance between him and Robert just grew because of different views related to music making and personalities. This eventually led to Dempsey leaving the group.
I respect Dempsey a lot. He is a great bass player. The first album is a testimony of this. Michael Dempsey and Simon Gallup should not be compared with each other. Both are good in their own ways. But Simon's personality and his way of bass playing was more suited for Cure's songs.
