Miss, I believe you aren't quite getting the issue. You have the PERSONAL freedom to say merry Christmas, happy chanukah, etc... However, the GOVERNMENT can not promote ANY religion. It is not about being offended or offensive. It is about in the 1700s people had no religious freedom except that of the church of England. So, when the founders formed the United States, they wanted to ensure NO religion was dominant nor endorsed by the government.

@SparklestheClown The majority does not rule in our country. That's why we have a Bill of Rights.
I think you should go deliver your message at a Native American Reservation and ask them how they feel about people coming in with their beliefs and trying to shut down the majority with nastiness. Oh, wait....it was the Christians who did that, right?

i find this ridiculous. Why does Rhode Island care what their governor calls a tree in the state house. For god's sake its just a tree, it has no effect on any rhode islanders lives. Its time to stop wasting time on the little things, and start to support our governor and do our best to get rhode island in the right direction. America!

We aren't changing any other holidays nomenclature because this particular time of year is a holiday in several religions, and the people that subscribe to them have every right to be included. I find your non inclusive opinions, which are for nothing more than a name, quite disturbing. You are still free to call the tree whatever you want, why would you rob other people of that right?

@Stuartsaves You guys are too funny. We are not changing any of the other names or dates of any other holidays, or verbiage associated with them, so no yes, changing the name somehow negates some part of the touching and symbolic nature of the tree and the message! Merry Christmas to you!!!!!!!!!!

@Atheist4USA Look you have the right to be an atheist - fine - Most of us are in the middle of the American spectrum! After a lifetime of living, I feel the Christmas tree should stay the Christmas tree just like hanukah should be and ramadan should be itself - So leave this alone!! You don't have to believe it - the majority - MAJORITY- OF US DO so leave it as we want, and you don't have to participate! Have a happy holiday for your family, and we will too! God Bless you!

As to your complaint about the minorities in this country pushing out the beliefs of the majority, well, sorry, that's the way that the country is set up to run. It is not set up as a true democracy where majority rules.
And *I* protest too much? You're the one that went to the trouble of actually posting a video. It takes a lot more effort to do that (along with making all of your little figures) than it does for me to write a bit.
