This is an excellent documentary; and it shows, very much, how much better documentaries were in the old days; they don't make them like this now. We must cherish old programmes like this.

Thank you for uploading. I personally think that the Queen is unbelievable. I see many parallels with Queen Victoria, who ascended to the throne in very uncertain times, and had many many challenges, but managed to secure the legacy of the Monarchy simply by the sheer weight of her virtues. How do you justify the existence of a Monarchy in a modern world? The whole concept is contradictory, yet it survies, thanks to the Queen's hard work, honesty and dedication to her people.

@mrlopez2681 I like this doco a lot too. I wish there was a sequel. I hope there will be new documentaries next year for her Diamond Jubilee.

"We, and by that I mean both of us, are most grateful..."
These were in response to the way in which people satirised her tendency to say "My husband and I", and also a reference to the royal "we" - which in its royal context refers solely to the speaker and no one else. I think Queen Victoria had a reputation for referring to herself as "we".
