  • @whqqsh shag is 1960s slang for sex. ****1960s**** its still being used in NZ and Australia?!!! leapin lizards!

  • larry dale

  • Yeah - Shagging is what Americans do on the dance floor and the civilised world do in the bedroom. . . . .

  • idiot...

  • Who sings this version of Wine Spo Dee O Dee?

  • Ya leaky ass!

  • hehe was in the local paper over here (New Zealand) that a woman was at a wedding in the U.S. & someone said "look, the bride & grrom are shagging on the dance floor", she had to explain that her surprise was because in NZ & Australia 'shagging' means having sex!

  • Part of the reason shaggers stare at their feet is because it adds to the presentation of their footwork (which is the signature of the dance). Looking at the area in which you want to draw attention to causes the audience to likewise draw their focus there. This is concept highly used in hip-hop, pop 'n locking and many others dances.

  • They have amaizing feet and they have to keep tract of them with not just thier minds but also their eyes.

  • The leader "peacocks" a variety of complex improvisations, while the follower performs subtle (or no) footwork variations.

The Shag started from guys in the 1950s competing against each other at clubs at the beach. A lady kept it smooth so she could keep her hair-do nice, not get too hot and most importantly hold her beer while they danced. The Shag is heavily tied into Southern identity, Southern sociability, and Myrtle Beach mystique. I love to hear the loafers slide on a sandy dance floor !
