In 2002 most Utahns were thinking about the Olympics. Meanwhile, a young man Down Under was dreaming about a career in professional basketball and trying to make up his mind what school in the United States would best prepare him for that career.

Boy, did Andrew Bogut ever make the right decision. After just two years at the University of Utah, Bogut was the player of the year in all of college basketball. He was named Player of the Yar by the Associated Press, the National Association of Basketball Coaches, ESPN, Basketball Times and Sports Illustrated.

In addition, he also won the John Wooden and James Naismith Awards, given annually to the top player in college basketball.

But the accolades weren't finished for Bogut. After deciding to enter the NBA Draft, he became the first-ever No. 1 overall selection in Utah basketball history, when the Milwaukee Bucks selected him.

Known for his offense (he tallied 40 career double/doubles and 20 games with 25 points or more), Bogut showed the nation his complete game against Oklahoma in the NCAA tournament. Against the Sooners, he moved away from the basket and passed the Utes to victory, finishing that game with a career-high seven assists to go along with a season-low 10 points.

For his sophomore season - his last at Utah - Bogut averaged 20.4 points and 12.2 rebounds per contest. He shot .620 from the field and blocked 65 shots.

In two short years at Utah, his dream came true. Utah's first ever consensus "Player of the Year" -- Andrew Bogut.
