A demo of my Ibanez JS100 Joe Satriani guitar. Playing through a Laney VH100R head into a Marshall 1922 cab, miked up with two SM57's (one on axis mid cone, the other off axis near the edge of the cone) straight into the desk.

As usual the standard player's caveat applies: It's about the tone not the playing, Im out of practice, my fingers were cold, I was rushed for time, Im a bass player, I used to be good now Im just famous etc etc...

Catch some more info about my rig at http://aaronsoundguy.wordpress.com/2011/10/29/monash-guitar-rig/

And a small apology to Mr Satriani and As I Lay Dying for attempting to play your music without practicing it properly first. I love you guys.

  • The js is a Korean made guitar. Great quality stuff coming out of Korea these days!

  • @sethwid Japan...

  • @Scopitone7 the best ibanez guitars are made in japan, this one however is from korea. but still a high quality, i have gigged with it severely for like 13 years now with no problems. just had to glue the strap-holder screw back into the cutaway at some point

  • @sethwid I remeber Joe talking about how the JS guitars are "precision made in Japan" and Ibanez is a Japanese company. But I just got a JS100 a few days ago and it says made in Indonesia.

  • @Scopitone7 yeah dude, i just checked the Ibanez site about the JS range, they say: "JSBDG, JS20TH, JS2400, JS1600, JS1200 and JS1000 are precision-made in Japan" notice they dont mention the JS100 :-(

i wouldnt worry too much, im sure the build quality is still quite good. it seems to matter less where instruments are made these days. im quite happy with mine (i couldnt sell it, i tried!) i just need to upgrade the pickups

  • Good idea. Maybe one on the timefactor and one on the vox duel overdrive if I get time. Maybe even a Mesa transatlantic if I can get my hands on one he he, wink wink
