Nice set up. Do you find your Luxman 590A a good match for the 803 speakers? The reason I'm asking is that I'm thinking of getting a pair of 803 Diamonds. Comments in hifi forums appear to indicate that huge power output is required to drive the 803. I'm not entirely sure if these opinions are well founded.

@pervertt The big misunderstanding about 800 series speakers is that they demand a'lot of Wattage.

This is not exactly true. What they really demand is a'lot of efficiency which means a capable power supply and a'lot of current.

The Luxman L590A II as well as being very conservative in In Its wattage statement is very efficient and current providing so It knocks the 803s's out.

@PETROULOP I have measured 105db peaks with absolutely no distortion or the amplifier straining with the volume at 12:05 o clock. Distortion and Hardness begins At 12:15 but we're talking about Literally deafening volumes at that point.

@PETROULOP I have also heard of people driving the 802's with It but do not have personal experience.

The result for me is a match made In Heaven and since the 803D's you're looking at are more efficient than my "S" I don't think there would be a problem driving that extra woofer.

I checked, there is an ASR Emitter at £6,800 and an ASR Emitter II at £13,500. Which one have you heard? The Luxman L-590A ii is £6,500 at present.

I guess It was the cheaper one but make no mistake the main difference between the two models is in power as of course in the bigger battery psu which must mean more quality soundwise.

I didn't mean that the ASR is not a worthy machine with my comment, on the contrary It is a very special machine but I would choose the Luxmann for It's a;most unreal purity and fot the better dynamics.

@pervertt try NAIN supernait with the 803D and enjoy...wonderfull match for rock,blues music.if you are more into high end stuff listen to the kARAN INT180 or vitus audio 100 with the 803d.

@PETROULOP Thanks for the reassuring reply. I suspected as much - that mega watts are not needed if the amp is high current capable and has good power supplies. I'll hang onto my current amp (80 wpc Class A, dual mono) and make a final call on any replacement after I get the speakers. Cheers.
