Powerful supercell that went up over west-central South Dakota on July 23rd and raced eastward along I-90 at up to 45 mph.
While tornadoes were reported, including one small spin-up I observed from Platte, the storm itself was the main attraction with amazing views of striated stacked-plates structure & intense lightning with plenty of plasma-like CG strikes.

  • Thanks guys! Always appreciate the positive feedback :). Next time I'll try to get more time lapse of the storm's fine structure.

  • Amazing cell! Thank You for not adding music to the video! I love it when chasers let nature produce the soundtrack. I checked out your other videos as well, great job! I've got your channel bookmarked, I look forward to seeing more videos!

  • @ct79 Thanks man, much appreciate it!

It was a chase to remember and the audio really did speak for itself :). You know sometimes it's hard not to get all giddy & jumpy, especially with lightning striking so close. Might as well leave the ridiculously over-hyped, noisy drama to Discovery, etc... LOL!

  • Beautiful work. This is the most well done of the July 23rd SD storm videos. Thank you.

  • @Congakeystone Thanks for the compliment :^). Took a while to get this one done.

  • I give this clip two thumbs up for the time lapse videography.

  • This is one of the best chaser videos I've ever seen. Steady, calm footages, no yelling people and also no bombastic music. Fantastic, thanks a lot for sharing!

  • The most sick weather video ever made

  • Storms like these want to make me want to live there :)

  • wow, man, that was amazing.

  • FUCK!!! o_O

  • Why don't storm chasers get camera mounts?

  • I wasn't raised in SD but have lived here most of my adult life by choice. There is a stark natural beauty in watching the big storms march across the high plains, storms dancing in the sky. Keep up the good work and sharing these wonderful natural sequences with us. Many thanks!
