RHETT: You will, though. And another thing. Those pantalets. I don't know a woman in Paris wears pantalets anymore.

SCARLETT: What do they... you shouldn't talk about such things.

RHETT: You little hypocrite, you don't mind my knowing about them, just my talking about them.

SCARLETT: Rhett, I really can't go on accepting these gifts. Though you are awfully kind.

RHETT: I'm not kind, I'm just tempting you. I never give anything without expecting something in return. I always get paid.

SCARLETT: If you think I'll marry you just to pay for the bonnet, I won't.

RHETT: Don't flatter yourself, I'm not a marrying man.

SCARLETT: Well, I won't kiss you for it, either.

RHETT: Open your eyes and look at me. No, I don't think I will kiss you. Although you need kissing badly. That's what's wrong with you. You should be kissed, and often, and by someone who knows how.

SCARLETT: And I suppose that you think that you are the proper person.

RHETT: I might be, if the right moment ever came.

SCARLETT: You're a conceited, black- hearted varmint, Rhett
Butler, and I don't know why I let you come and see
me.

RHETT: I'll tell you why, Scarlett. Because I'm the only man
over sixteen and under sixty who's around to show you
a good time.

  • and even with more kissing in her life, she remained more than spirited haha.

  • I've wanted to see this movie since I was a child, It didn't dissapointed me at all! I like Clark Gable since "It Happened One Night" but in this movie he blew my mind!

Vivien Leigh was astonishing too,a perfect Scarlett :)

  • @nickoberon decades of 'feminism' and women being the only role models in their son's lives. the feminist concepts are fine: the way they expressed them was wrong. especially to male youth. yes - men and women should get the same pay for doing the same amount of work. but decades of women told boys that taking the initiative with a girl is wrong. then the same women complain ''there's no men around anymore''. that's like lighting a dynamite and being made when it explodes. viva male empowerment

  • Ugh I loathe him, such an dickface bastard. Reeks of paternalistic arrogance and mysogyny... not saying it's not realistic for the period of course! Hate Scarlett too, for that matter. I guess they deserve each other?

  • @pantherpatty I dont like the book or TV mimi movie because of a lot of reason. Scarlet would never live with a man she didnt marryand Miss Mitchall NEVER intended for there to be a sequel PERIOD......I HATED the the phoney baloney sequel because it wasnt what Miss Mitchall wanted or aprove of, it s HER story to not contune as she wished

  • @Herbielondon I know he SAYS he s not the marrying kind and he may not have been UNTILL he met Scarlet. I think he wants to marry her even then but is trying to protect his heart as he knows who she really loves and its NOT him. Sadly you can only protect your heart so long..you love who you love and no help for it

  • @Herbielondon In the book he didn't accept her as his mistress cuz he couldn't even get money at the moment. and also I think he wanted her love, not just her body. He really wanted to win her heart, but he doesn't really show it till the end, but there ARE hints throughout the book of him really caring for her, and Scarlett is merely suspecting it but she doesn't really know. (: Love this book/movie

  • Ugh i love this story! :) I wanna watch the movie so bad!

  • ah fear me, love me, do what i say and i will be your slave... i always remember that line from Jareth every time I think of how Rhett spoiled & taunted Scarlett in their very unique relationship, but they're just both too proud, I guess more cautious in his part and Scarlett realized hers just too late...still I love this story~

  • Back in the days even the pimps had swag fo the white hoe's
