The other day I was filling up and the guy filling up next to me lit up a cigarette. I complained to the guy and was told ..... Let's just say it was ugly.
Then I complained to the people at the registers inside. They just said there are a lot of dumb people. I see the signs about turning off the engine, no smoking, turning off cell phones etc. But until stations are willing to ban customers or press charges I don't see much changing.

@ianchard Not that I agree with the idea of latches, especially with petrol/gas! If you are filling the car/van/truck/whatever, I think people should stay with their hands on the nozzle until the end of the re-filling process.

@ianchard Are you sure about that? I know some filling pumps for trucks (yes, I know they're diesel, btw!) have (or did have at one time anyhow!) a latch on them.

@jdautograph $1.38! wish we had those gas prices right now. im so sick of paying nearly $3.00 a gallon.

Are pumps different in the US? In the UK all pumps stop when you let go of the trigger -- it's impossible to latch them open.
