opacada? no comparto. this one is much more melodic, deep and the performance so human. Janis was this song and maybe all we needed for her.

This song was on the flip side of the At Seventeen 45 rpm record. I was seventeen when it came out and related to both songs. My teen years were pretty intense in 1975. I can only imagine what teenagers go though now. It’s been over three decades since I heard this.
Janis Ian is unique.

Stars is by far the best work from Janis and that's saying something. It is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Janis sang this on the Old Grey Whistle Test in the 70's. I was stunned by the beauty of it then as I am now.

X Factor people... take note...
I used to turn off all the lights, light a candle, and enjoy the turquoise glow of the stereo receiver in the tiny second floor bedroom in my squalid Graduate School apartment in Gainesville, Florida, and 'bathe' myself in the depth of yearning in this song. Wanting to be a good artist and wanting to have a good love, the tears would flow in the often disappointment of that dual quest at that point in my life.

@Zeppolino100 I also listen to the song today and remmber the record player's glow as I layed with my first love in this world in Sommerville, Massachusetts.. Those memories hurt so much today but I suppose it's better than not having the memories at all. Let's drink to the tears.
