Summer is here! One of the most traditional summer weekend activites in Russia is spending time at a dacha - a country home. On this weeks Moscow Out, Martyn and the team explore the history of dachas and also look at the future of second homes in Russia. In a country where so many people consider themselves poor and are considered so by foreigners, there are tens of millions of landowners, and their patches of land are usually not all that small. Let's open the gate in the fence and enter dacha-land!
Why go to a dacha when you can get on a plane and fly to Italy?

This is so interesting. I'll definitely watch more of Russia Today and especially this programme. It was good to learn more about the history of the dacha. I look forward to watching more of Martin Andrew.

Some of my happiest memories are childhood summers at my Granny's dacha. :)
