I get the pen from Durable Supply Company and I use Krylon Clear to seal the paint.

    Thanks for the comment

  • Hey Joeyyyyyy08! love your work. I want to use Posca pens to paint my bike but the Posca website says they will wash off non-porous surfaces. Ive seen the used on motorcycle parts and was wondering if I should use the water or oil based pens on a wet sanded surface which will be professionally clear coated afterwards. Any help would be great! keep up the amazing work! you rock!

Hey, Thank you! Yes the Posca Pens will wash off if they aren't sealed with a clear coat. What I would recommend is to prep the surface with some high grit sand paper. Once you finish use Krylon Clear as your base coat before you have it professionally cleared. This will seal the paint. Different types of clear can have an effect to the paint. Krylon is the best for a base coat. Hope this helps.

  • simply put, you're awesome. 10*

  • Well there are all types of paint pens out there. I would say Posca is most popular. I like the tips on the pens. Other brand use Chisel tips. I like the rounded tips that Posca Pens have. Plus they are water base so clean up is really easy. You may have to experiment to find which brand works best for you. Durable Supply Company has a large selection of paint pens. I have the link in the description.

  • @Joeyyyyyy08 Thanks for your reply, do you think a body shop's clear coat will mess with the water based Posca's? it might be a strong or chemical clear coat. Urethane or something like that. Have you ever had anything put in for clear coating or do you use rattle cans? Thanks so much. Just trying to cross my "T's" & dot my "i" 's before I get started.

  • are posca paint pens better than regular paint pens???

  • Awesome! That looks really good :)
