Selah sings of keeping our eyes fixed upon Jesus so as not to miss either His glory or His grace, the glory of His majesty or the grace of His cross.
The words to the entire hymn:
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Refrain

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!

Refrain

His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

  • Thank you beanscot for finding these verses and getting back to me so fast.

    I appreciate it!

    Can I email you if I should have other biblical questions??

  • @taneksian You're welcome. Messages can be sent through YouTube.

  • Can someone give me the closest verses in the Bible on which this song is based?

    Thanks!

  • @taneksian There are others but this is Hebrews 12: 1,2:

     Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

  • amen

  • @SuperVip1234567 Romans 11:36

    For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

  • It irks me greatly that the chorus of this hymn is the only thing people seem to want to sing these days. The whole hymn is incredible! I think it is a great shame that most of this wonderful song is being forgotten.

  • @tineybaby012 Yes, I am. Jesus is my Savior and the lover of my soul. Thanks for asking.
