On a technical Marshall McLuhan- type global mind ponders entrepreneur and semantic web pioneer Nova Spivack. 'Dry' reasons could be wired.com editor Kevin Kelly's One Machine and the rapidly increasing processing and interface capabilities, eg. recognizing, learning, inferring, conceptualizing, reasoning, deciding, reorganizing, projecting, planning, talking, asking, creating, connecting, cooperating algorithms, components and information structures, systemics effects, sensor and computing ubiquity, and brain-internet interfaces.

Principal web engine company engineers, entrepreneurs and writers share their thoughts on possible driving factors. Prabhakar Raghavan of Yahoo thinks web technology will have to recognize human intent and free the mind from unnecessary tasks. Howard Bloom, author of "Global Brain: The Evolution of Mass Mind", urges for a web interface that understands and saves time instead of consuming, for instant connectivity between humans and between humans and their subject of intent. Jon Udell, evangelist/ alpha geek at Microsoft, tells his view on the global mind.

Edited from the panel of Where the Web is Going, a demo.com conference roundtable, San Diego, California, 9.08, and Spivack's appearance at the GRID08 conference, Bonnier Media University, Stockholm, Sweden, 8.08.
The "Principia Cybernetica Web" also discusses such hive mind paradigms.
"Computer Consciousness" concepts for off-the-shelf products were under development since the postmillennium decade: "The idea of CC is to enable the OS to be aware of what the user is trying to do while also being aware of what the computer is doing or not doing." -Ed Fredkin, Carnegie Mellon University, 2004

The synthetelepa channel autoplaying playlist walks through underdocumented phenomena and effects of non-conventional information transfer to and from the mind, touching conceptual frameworks, research, technologies, techniques and applications.
