Nice footage...Thanks so much.....interesting how unnecessary it is for 4 men to make a sandwich here....No offense to any of Neil's peers in the 70's but he was so much more naturally gifted then everyone else and he knew it...they were just 'dead weight' to him as he had mentioned (i think)

man i love every live performance of neil from around 1970 ecspecially his solo shows the BBC one and the massey hall 71 he could really fuckin sing back then.

i was lucky enough to get to dj on the sound 100.3, this was the second song i played. lots of happy memories.

Perfect song. Perfect video. Thank you steely for posting.

... amazing post. Thanks man. Sometime in '70 and like the version on Four Way Street. Probably my favourite song. Young so intense, Stephen's great acoustic solo playing. They're having a ball, and know they've hit on something very good.

steelyglenn, Just awesome! I hadn't found this on YouTube and I've searched for CSNY. This is really true to...I want to say 4 Way Street. (Have to check that, sorry.) This is rare footage of this terrific song. Wow. So happy that I stumbled upon your upload.

@damiensongs are you being serious with this comment? without Stills, Young would be nowhere. :-)

Great video! America's Beatles! I am stunned at the comment that the "other three are dead weight". ...now or then. CSN has given us some of the most endearing songs in American history. It's a statement of pure ignorance to say the others are less talented ...even if prefaced with, "in my opinion".

Back then the four were peers- and each important in the music scene of that time...but 20 and 30 years later when they go on tour it's Neil and three guys that need the work.
-just my 2 cents
We'd like to introduce our thang-Neil Young! When I first heard the studio version by the Buffalo-Springfield, i could not believe it was the same group. It wasn't. Jim Messina sang lead, it was organ. This is the real CSN&Y. Great song ny Neil. But they all contribite-yes, Neil's vocals are great, but so are Nash and Crosby's. Stephen's guitar work is just masterful. Stephen sings a little better on the 4 Way version, anf I like his lead better. But these guys never play the same.

@falcon6136 I believe it was actually Richie Furay who sang it in Springfield... (the other guy) :)

I havn't hear Young do this by himself. The two recorded versions are with Buffalo Springfield and CSNY (I'm pretty sure). This is just an opinion but I think this song is one of the few penned by Young that actually work best with CSNY (along with Southern Man, Ohio, Helpless). The harmonies here are much better than Springfield and Stills is awesome on guitar as usual.
Where is this clip from? Does video exist from a full 1970 show? I know theres a 1974 tour movie but CSNY are awful in it.

@BuonoBruttoCattivo77 I like this version best as well. This is from 1970
and there must be an entire show or more available somewhere on film.
This clip was taken from a video Rarities collection called "Rare Clips"
by Neil Young and it only has a few songs from this show. This is the
best clip.
