I'd like to attest that. It's true that G.U. stands out as a "Middle Finger" to loyal .hack//Fans who played the original four, but I think that, in the case of a story and a game like .Hack in general, there NEEDED to be change in the story and gameplay, and there needed to be odd and different varieties of characters for Haseo to interact with. Yes. Even the anime too.

G.U. is positively different from FF7, mostly because they have different generation designs.
