TAGS(don't pay attention): Airing Sunday, October 24, at 10:00pm Eastern Time (7:00pm Pacific Time), and re-airing several more times during the next month, motocross legend Jeremy McGrath stars in FUEL TV's signature 30-minute series "Firsthand."

On this episode of "Firsthand" we catch up with seven-time AMA Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath. First, Jeremy heads to the Team Honda moto test track outside Riverside, California to train X Games Female Motocross Gold Medalist Ashley Fiolek. Then he heads to L.A. to do color commentary during Moto X and Motocross Step-Up at Summer X Games.
After wrapping up the 2010 AMA Supercross Lites West Championship on an early-May Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada's Sam Boyd Stadium, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Jake Weimer stamped a big exclamation mark on his season by winning the hard-fought, club-swinging Dave Coombs East/West Shootout. Entering the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, and on a roll after winning four of eight races on the way to his Supercross title, the Idaho-born rider was hoping to make a run at his first 250 National Championship. Two rounds in, however, Weimer suffered a back injury and, well, motocross being motocross, the injury got worse and worse until it was so painful that Weimer was unable to finish out the season. A no-show at the Unadilla National (and onward), his timing couldn't have been much worse, as upward of ten riders were shopping around for 450 rides for 2011. Ryan Villopoto, Chad Reed, Christophe Pourcel, Weimer, and others all wanted in at Monster Energy/Kawasaki, but only two seats were available. Weimer bounced back and forth between Kawasaki and Pro Circuit making sure he was both seen and keen about riding green in 2011, and last week word finally came down from Irvine—and Jake Weimer was all smiles. Today, Racer X spoke with the new 450 pilot. Of all the milestones James "Bubba" Stewart Jr. has reached, being the first African-American to dominate in motocross seems least notable—to him, anyway. He has a point, particularly when you consider everything the 23-year-old has accomplished. After racking up a record-breaking 11 American Motorcyclist Association Amateur National titles riding for Kawasaki Team Green, James was named 2002 Rookie of the Year in his debut pro season. In 2004, he won both the AMA 125 East Supercross Championship and the AMA 125 Motocross National Championship, and four years later, in 2008, he became the second rider in history after Ricky Carmichael to complete a perfect motocross season—24 wins in 24 races—after coming back from knee surgery, no less. He capped off his perfect season with the 2008 AMA Speed Athlete of the Year award.
