Approaching a roundabout behind another cyclist, I think all of the traffic is taking the first exit. Bad assumption. I end up cutting up a car on the roundabout.
Normally I would stop at the queuing cars, but I think seeing the other cyclist go, convinced me to go as well. I shouldn't have done that.

Sorry Mr Silver car driver! :-(

  • 87.3% of statistics are made up on the spot. I don't know any cyclists who are insured. Not all have done the level of homework that you appear to. All road users have a responsibility to themselves and each other no matter what size their chosen mode of transport. I for one give cyclists as wide a berth as possible and will get fully on the other side of the road when overtaking them. You never know what they are going to do and it takes a lot less for a bicycle to veer suddenly than a car.

  • Ah, but I bet a lot of the cyclists you know will be covered by home insurance. Ask them to find out.

You are right, cyclists are more likely to veer. That is the nature of being on two wheels (and the potholed roads. Exactly why cyclists as for more room.

Of course there are bad cyclists. However, there are also bad drivers, and I know who the 'statistics' suggests is by far the most dangerous.

  • Compare like for like. Take the ratio of cyclists vs cars, amplify the amount of cyclists til it's 1:1. You'll find that cars would then cause less grief.

You have just highlighted you're not fit to be on the road. No wonder every single car/van/bus/taxi driver out there wants to run you over.

    Dick head.

  • Eh? You are suggesting that if there were more cyclists on the road there would be less hassle for cyclists. True and borne out by research. However, how does that 'highlight' that I am not fit for the road? What make you think every driver wants to run me over? The vast majority are very courteous. I think a small minority of brain dead idiots talk big on the internet....

  • You'll find that every motorist is probably tolerant of a cyclist providing he isn't a complete fucking idiot, out to provoke people.

I have shared the road with many a cyclist without issue. I feel, however, if I ever meet you on the road, I'll be donating some paintwork and rubber to your skull.

  • u have to be sorry for urself..u could be dead

  • did the driver video you and post your error on youtube??? by the way...you ride in the lane marked with a right turn arrow meaning you had to turn right...but why worry about a little detail like that...just enjoy confusing every motorist and lay the foundation for an accident

  • Thus proving that we all make mistakes. Any chance you could give motorised vehicle drivers a break! :P

  • Why do your videos keep showing up in my recommended or related videos all the time on youtube's main page and how do I stop them from coming up? Are you in cahoots with youtube to force your videos on people?? Wish it to stop 150% please.

  • Did you notice what the driver did???? Did he scream and shout like you would of done? You notice that the driver took it that you made a mistake and just carried on with his journey. Maybe you should take a leaf out of their book and act like them.

  • Your candor is much appreciated. It would be so easy for a documentarian to omit their screwups and foibles rather than to post them for all critics to see. It is a mark of maturity to freely admit when you're wrong.

The benefit for all? They get to see your experiences with a more human perspective.

  • @Mankycustard

    I know! Aren't statistics fun?

    :)

  • @hempheadfor20 That just proves how unreliable statistics are; according to your calculations, based upon sound evidence and thorough research which I have just conducted in a poll of my kids rabbit, two American tourists and the local priest , they are neither right nor wrong for -8.59732% of the time. Such a conclusion will rip a hole in the space/time continuum through which all statisticians, management consultants, dictatorships, cyclists and traffic wardens will be sucked into oblivion ;-p

  • @Mankycustard

I flew threw the windshield of a car during a head on collision while cycling a couple years back. My home insurance definitely covered it.

Not sure why, but I'm not complaining.

96.347569% of people who think statistics are made up 87.3% of the time are only correct 21.29732% of the time. :)
