This is actually my favourite Kiss album. Being a drummer, I couldn't believe how much better Peter got.....Lol, it's Anton Fig on drums on this and the Dynasty album. He also played on Ace's solo album. Also Gene's Bass playing "Torpedo Girl". Another laugh. I read later that it was Ace on bass for that track. The production though is brutal, the guitars sound so thin and weak. I feel this is what ruined this album because I thought the majority of songs were quite strong but produced horribly.
I found Ace's book to be very telling. He never tried to downplay his reputation for drinking and I think it really showed that in the end. Ace and Peter were one type and Paul and Gene were another. Read the book and you may see what I mean.
I was disappointed with this album(as were a lot of KISS fans)but it had some good tunes like 'Is that You?','Talk to me'and 'Torpedo Girl'-I was mostly bummed cuz Peter Criss left the band...but Eric Carr came in with some big shoes to fill(no pun intended haha)

This was the end for me; I hated the album at the time of release and I've not changed my opinion of it over the ensuing years. This album was followed shortly by the "People" magazine cover story that alerted me to Peter's exit, and that-was-that.....
....until the Reunion Tour of 1996, of course....!!!
Man I remember seeing the "Unmasked" title and saying "YES!!!" now I will know what they look like" then I was disappointed... then I listened to the album... and I was devastated! R.I.P. Eric. if there was ever anyone that could step into Peter Criss' shoes (not replace) it was Eric Carr.
I have never seen the video for "Talk To Me" before; thanks for including it in this .
This is when Eric was still playing Slingerland Drums. I remember when he joined he said he was the only drummer he knew of that used Slingerland drums and Paiste cymbals.
