I'm just finishing series on this topic.

An entire sermon of hyperbole.

@theJshowman - the verse you cited was 2 Pet. 3:9 which reads in part; "... but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." Who is the "you"? ANSWER: "Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ" 2 Peter 1:1. The "you" is the elect of God. You just cited one of the best Calvinistic verses in all of Scripture!

@dollargoat: There are many places like that around the world. Very sad. I live in a big city and it is difficult to find a church truly faithful to the Word of God.

@ono4070: Enjoy!!!

Love it!!! I am planning on visiting the church this summer of 2011.

One memory I have is myself walking through the yard of Rescue Baptist church with several other boys around my age (6 years old, give or take), and Mr. Ward walking with us. He taught us that Jehovah was the Hebrew word for Lord. As adults, this is common knowledge, however that was the 1st time I ever heard that and have remembered it ever since and this memory is recalled nearly anytime I hear the word Jehovah.

I met D.J. Ward when I was a young boy in Rescue California at a Sovereign Grace retreat that I attended with my parents for several years. The Lord is now doing a work in my life and I find myself listening to sermons online to be fulfilled with His word throughout the week. After running across this video I find myself saddened to hear of Mr. Ward's passing, but at the same time praising The Lord that he is home! God bless you all.

Were it not that God had chosen some...heaven would have none.

Amen!
wow, the same theme in ephesians?, there are several themes in every book in the new testament that can be found in every other book in the new testament... you just randomly told me to read ephesians without a certain scripture is what actually happened. it's ok.... is God willing that any should perish? Does God want all men to be saved? answer carefully

Jesus clearly tells us that all that the Father gives to Him will come to Him. If God wants all to be saved, then you must answer why the Father doesn't give ALL to the Son. Refer to John 6

how can you base a sermon off of something not in scripture... and why should i read ephesians if your base was in romans lol... research "the election of grace", this is for everyone, may i remind you of the passage that said "God is not willing that any should perish
theJshowman 3 years ago
Because the same theme from Ephesians is found throughout the New Testament, such as Romans. No need to lol.
You must ask yourself why and how is there a remnant? Answer- according to the election of grace.
Romans 11
5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

i have several times. must not be worded the same way he said it... can you tell me where it is?

No body said it was a direct quote from Scripture.
Romans 11
5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
