  • Choices of being a consumer or explorer are difficult when so many consumers are given small rewards. Believe me, it is not about the money, it is about the challenge. It would be better to have a large challenge than an off the cuff small one. You get what you sow, etc, I know you are more serious about science than new media marketing, but it seems that raising money in this fashion will not attain the goals in science, you have set.

  • @MWNelsondesign Great! Make a stirring video to that effect - show us the challenge and how to attain the goals!

  • @MWNelsondesign "consumer v. explorer" has to do with people not funding fusion because they only want to fund prototypes that are about to go to market. This problem is scalable. Congress has a consumer attitude, and so only funds mainline projects - but precariously because they don't appear all that consumer ready. Investors have a consumer attitude (for example, when Google says, "we don't fund science projects").

  • @MWNelsondesign VC's want ROI. The media shows a consumer attitude when journalists ask, "why should we do a story on fusion when it's still many years away?" The consumer attitude is important for progress, but being consumers shouldn't be the first and only filter by which we approach fusion. We want to craft a strong pro-science and pro research message. We see a tension in this when people are first and foremost consumers, and find "science projects" wasteful.

  • @MWNelsondesign We could also make this meta-consumption - consumers of exploration.

  • The enthusiasm more than makes up for the lack of technical polish.

  • @Superkuh2 Thanks!
