I have a Canon S3 IS, ancestor of the SX 1. It won't make either interval movies or interval still shots (which can be made into a video). Look for "Interval" something in your manual. Good luck.

Yes. The camera appears to shut-down completely between frames. It wakes up automatically just in time to take a frame, then goes right back to sleep.

That's very cool! So the battery lasts 8 hours or more in time lapse mode? Awesome!
