I think that Hamelin is the best pianist of the presnet time.

still awesome awesome awesome!

Nearly snapped my hand attempting Variation 5-6 at speed, let alone the rest of the piece.
But I agree, this is within the reach of many professional and quasi-professional players, I think. Musically, it's also straightforward for the most part. Of course, a well-executed interpretation is another thing altogether...

Compares very favourably to that of both Smith and Lewenthal: However I find the performance of Michael Ponti the best.

In the context of this wonderfully overdone piece I had to laugh at the comment offered "for all intensive purposes." For all intents and purposes that mis-quoted expression might even be appropriate here.

do you notice there is no dislikes here
i think Because all people reach this video know what they want

@thunder1909 they could play......HORRENDOUSLY. I know of a handful of conservatory students and i doubt they could give convincing performances of this. It takes a student of unswerving dediactaion, passion for the score and a fascination with Akan's quite unique soundworld and life to conjure up a performance even as 25% successful as the miracles of sound re-created here.
