  • Why would i pay thousands of dollars to a bunch of coders and Microsoft to take the fun out of the Dm's creative process and the imagination of the players. Pencil, paper and dice cost virtually nothing. That's a real part of the pride and satisfaction of creating a believable enviroment and delivering genuine fun to the players. argh!

  • Hey lets play Dungeons and Dragons, bring your table to our house!

Actually, if you combine that Surface table with a map maker the DM retains all creative freedom. It would make battles a lot easier to manage, that's for sure. Oh the squabbles I had about misplaced characters and line of sight and whatnot. And it doesn't mess with the truly creative part of D&D anyway; roleplaying.

  • Is DND really that fun I really wanna know causeim a fantasy kinda geek or just a gaming geek and I wanna see if my friends wants to play

  • @BavManification Doing this and making it through a other program aka Maptools you can make it so its not only a in person game its also a web game

  • Leave the dice real... Make everything else cyber.

  • the future is now

  • Everything will evolve, hopefully they make this fully upgradable for future patchs and content and make a bit more pc friendly

  • @SkeletorsUncle Well, IRC clients and Skype are functional, but not the most practical method. I've become a fan of Fantasy Grounds II, because it has built in networking services so that you can directly connect with the players, as well as integral dice rollers, allows you to preset certain dice combos, and has tools for the DM to create their entire adventure (encounters, maps, etc), and even 'theme' adjustments to assist with ambience. Different versions give different tools

  • @Allabaster84 Would you mind me asking what you use to play DnD over the internet? I've been searching for a good way for a while now. The best I've tried was MapTools but it was a little too complex for my liking.

  • The ONLY good thing about it is that characters and monsters move and that there is a sound but replacing dice´s with virtual dice´s? Paper and pencil? Seriously this wouldn´t me d&d anymore.

  • I think this thing could be useful just to design maps and PC/NPC so that every member of the party can see your character as you imagine him, not everyone has drawing skills you know xD by the way the only movement of the character/monsters on the grid would be sufficient in my opinion! (sorry for the bad English)
