Oh my goodness............what memories. I was about 10. Swinging on the swing in Grandma's garden singing this song and thinking about Henry. He worn a black leather jacket with fringes and was my fantacy! Way too old for me cos I was a child and he was........I guess a teenager at that juncture.

I love the Jackie de Shannon version and think it's the best although the Searchers do make a good job of it. I think the sound quality on this video, however, doesn't do justice to the melody - too 'tinny'.

LOVE THIS SONG!!
also, if you want to decrease the speed a bit, you can take a bit of sandpaper and rub it up against the metal shaft thing that spins the rubber wheel thing [while it's spinning].

I did that on a BSR years ago and slowed it down too much. Then I put a layer of electric tape in the rim of the turntable to speed it up. You could hear the seam every revolution.

great song! Looking at the video, I noticed the small record player is sitting on top a console...is that a Magnavox? My Grandmother had one. I wanted to save it after she passed away but, I think the tenants that first rented her house got rid of it.

Yup. From the late 60's maybe early 70's. Horn tweeters and all.
