"A compilation of no-look passes, behind-the-back moves, and circus shots. A reminder of what made him so mind blowing in the first place." SPORTS ILLUSTRATED (March 2007) on this highlight mix.

"The definitive biography of Pistol Pete Maravich" ESPN
The "essential" Maravich biography. The New York Times

The mix brought to you by the new book MARAVICH and the Pete Maravich Memorial Basketball Camp.

Pete averaged 44.2 points per game. That remains an all-time NCAA record. But it was HOW he played that burnished his legacy. Welcome to the show.

Special thanks to Wayne Federman and LSU Basketball.

You are so wrong. Read up on him. NOBODY would stop him today. NOBODY has his skills. NOBODY would have a chance in one on one. He would waste anybody. 44 ppg with no 3 point line? PLEASE!!!!!!

Consider the fact that Maravich was playing at least 20 years ahead of his time and players today can't duplicate all of his abilities, before you make absurd claims. If he played today, he'd be doing so with moves that will eventually be invented sometime in the 2020s. The guy was a warlock with a basketball plain and simple.

I was saying he would have been a ridiculous PG now but with better athleticism because he wouldn't have been hampered as much by injuries. I think we're in agreement here. Just to clarify, I think the 3 and modern conditioned would have helped Pete more than just about any other player. Just watch any all-star game footage from the 70's - it was almost unfair to have him and Dr. J on the floor at the same time.

Lol I don't understand where you're going with this, Pete would have averaged 6-7 3s a game in his career if the 3 point line was enforced. His height is listed as 6'5", that's tall enough to be a great point guard and with his ball handling its a wrap.

@Tom Chance No, one of the greatest. Not the greatest. He was the greatest college player ever but not NBA.
