You could sweep the box and completed instrument through the pickup looking for resonances...

Of course, standard speakers can pickup and produce sound as well.

@savagecircuits Sometimes you will see DJs plug their headphones into the mixer like a microphone and yell into them for effect.

Raaaaaarrrrrr! Interestingly, piezos also work in reverse. Applying a signal causes the element to vibrate producing sound.
