The 15 members of the United Nations Security Council have received Palestine's application to become a full status Member.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas presented it to secretary General Ban-Ki Moon prior to addressing the 193-nation general assembly. He was followed by Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu.
Prior to the submission of Palestine's formal application, the United States said it would veto any vote in the Security Council citing peace between the two states required a return to the negotiating table.
