  • "tyre expansion as the wheel heats up." ignore what i said. The inaccurate speedo is caused by some other factor =p

oops looks like we came up to the same conclution almost at the same time...;-)

  • @ASSHOLELA

Well whatever the cause is, A LOT doesn,t match at all ;-) Tyre expansion, like you said( and wanted me to forget ;-), can definitely not give such differenses. Can be one of two things: wrong or fake speedo or lower gear ratios to give a faster acceleration in the video.....hmm hmm everyone is cheating nowadays...

  • @ATsUduobleT

either 2 things. this was the prototype version and they swapped the gears since then, or this is a completely bogus footage of them (maybe doctoring the speedo )

  • @ASSHOLELA

Second thing is that Hennessey say that it can manage 275mph). With gear ratios from Hennesey that would happen at 6950rpm and that might be plausible. 5900rpm at 215mph(taken from the video) would at that topspeed give 7546 rpm!!!! IF that engine manage those revs it wouln,t have much hp left then. We know alot about LS9 engine and the character of that engine with a turbo will give a LOT midrange power but the torque/power curve will steep fast after max. Given redline 7200!?!?

  • @ATsUduobleT

If you watch carefully at 180mph the revs stop increaing for a moment but the speed keeps climbing. Henessey said there was significant slippage at the clutch. But I dont believe them. When the clutch slips, the revs increase but not the speed. It is most likely an inaccurate speedo due to tyre expansion as the wheel heats up.

  • @ASSHOLELA

Well, gear ratios by Hennessey is 1st: 2,61 , 2nd:1,71 , 3rd:1,23 4th:0,94 , 5th:0,77 ,6th0,63 final drive 3,36. Tyre 345/30 20inch. One rev at the wheel=2,246m(I prefer metric...). One rev in the engine at 6th gives1/(0,63*3,36)*2,246=1,061m at the wheel. 1000rpm=60000rev/hour, =63660m per hour/1000=63,66kph or if you want 39,56mph. max power at 6500, redline at 7200 by Hennessey( but Venoms gauge shows 6750rpm!?!) 5900 rpm(from video) gives 233,4mph or 375,6kph. Doesn't match video

  • @ATsUduobleT

I dont get you. what are the supposed topend speeds in each gear quoted by hennessey?

  • First of all i must say that I do not say that the Venom not is faster BUT something's not right in this picture. Look at Venom's original video and compare the rpms with the speedometer. Its obvious that it couldn't be 3rd gear it starts from. If so, it would do 190mph at 5900 rpm at 5th! but if starting gear was 4th it would do 233 at 6th!?! So it,s pretty obvious that this is a test with significant lower final drive than production car. That will also fit very well with the rpms at 6o -70mph
