This is the first episode of Inside Synthesis. It's a tutorial on how use a Korg MS2000 as a drum machine, but you'll still be able to play bass and lead lines over it.

  • Thanks so much For this tutorial!!!!

My Only "Complaint", would be that its a bit fast on the steps of the tutorial. I understood it, but it seems like beginners to synthesis wouldn't understand this very well.

Another Demo illustrating how to make awesome leads, basses, Splits, and duals would be greatly appreciated.

Please make more MS2000 videos, they are such great synths!

Also, I was wondering if you had any music of your own?

  • I appreciate the critique - the latest video is a lot more graphic friendly, and I changed the pacing so that it isn't quite as fast as this video.

I probably won't be able to remake this one, since I'd rather move forward with new material - but if I have the time I'll certainly consider it.

I'm working on new music material now. I have a vacation planned soon during which I plan to write a whole lot of music for an upcoming album.

Stuff prior to this is a bit too embarrassing to share.

  • Is this possible to do on a microKorg??? Really need a drum machine fix.

  • Yes and no.

You can create the drums on one timbre, and use the other timbre for bass/lead, but you can't do the drum sequencing since the microKorg doesn't have a mod sequencer. You'd have to sequence it externally.

You can do it on a Korg R3, but you're slightly limited since it has fewer mod sequence tracks.

  • great tutorial my friend!

  • Dear uploader, these are incredibly clever moves with the sound here, with very sensible words to match them. Thanks a lot for the video.

  • wow! that´s great! really!

  • This is the best-how to synth programming vid I have seen on youtube. In fact its the only one. I'm quite a good musician but I haven't a clue about general synth programming. I don't have an MS2000 but I do have a Korg R3 and I made my own drum sounds after following this vid.

    Please make lots more videos!!

    Thanks

  • Easy to understand and very interesting to watch. Two thumbs up!

  • Brilliant. Best youtube tutorial I've ever seen.

    Thanks for taking the time.

  • This is some really amazing programming skills! Excellent tips! Except just when you said that distortion can make it sound like crap is when my ears perked up! ;)

  • And, I absolutely love this video. I had no idea what my Korg was capable of until I watched this video!

And who the eff gave this video 2 thumbs down?!? How can you NOT like this???

  • I don't know why, but the last song that you play in this video reminds me of Trash80.net - related in any way?

  • great tutorial
