  • Love the sound, ray.

  • It looks lip synced because the audio is slightly behind the video, the key is that it is ALWAYS behind...

    IOW NOT lip synced.

It picks up toward the end.

  • What a beautiful piece of work, as lovely now as when I first saw it on TV all those years ago ! Thanks a million for posting it !

  • Though we did a lot of live singing on the 1975 TMT Show on CBS, this clip is from a series performances we recorded for the Two Ronnies show in the UK, and I believe there is some lyp-synch gong on. Thanks for your great comments, and for remembering, and special thanks to all of you who caught the band singer joke!

  • I can say with certainty that this is no lip-sync. I asked Laurel Masse about this years ago when she lived in Chicago. I thought they lip-synced to recordings made especially for this show but she told me they sang live on the soundstage for every show. It's so good to see these rare clips on YouTube.

  • TD himself would have been proud of this arrangement.

  • Tremendous performance. I love the opening joke in which they mimic the way 40s big band vocalists were, sitting vacantly on uncomfortable-looking chairs at the end of the band until they are called into action. Janis in particular captures perfectly the style of the 40s - that Miss Personality bounce, all energy and flashing eyes, selling a song with great gusto. Check out singers like Marion Hutton to see the original model - only she was not as good as Janis.

  • Is "deaf git" meant for me? Have no idea what that means, but if I sounded like I was displeased in any way with this vid, you got me wrong, dude. I think this is one of the swingin-est take they've ever done - "Until I Meat You" on Mecca for Moderns might come close (even without Laurel) Gaud, I miss her!

Her "Je Voulais" can still bring me to tears. Peace out.
