This is a set of 22 variations or "differencias" on the chord progression 1,1,1,4,5,1 by Luys de Narvaez. This piece was originally contained in the Delphin de Musica, which was published in 1538. I strictly followed the notes from the original vihuela tablature, but for technical and musical reasons, I did change a few of the left hand fingerings. I also tuned the third string down to an F#, and used a capo on the second fret to closely imitate the tuning of the vihuela.
@MrCoherency there is an arrangement of this in Scott Tennant's book Pumping Nylon intermediate to advanced rep. Not sure if Scott uses a Capo though.

Good ! I play it on a vihuela in A (55 cm length for the strings) and on a short classical guitar (59 cm) and Renaissance Lute, too. You can sing on the first part plus the following note, 4 times : "Media noche era por filo, Los gallos querian cantar, Conde Claros con amores No podia reposar ; Dando muy grandes suspiros Que el amor le hacia dar, Por amor de Claranina, No le deja sosegar." (Romance Del Conde Claros de Montalban). Happy end : Conde Claros & Claranina get married ! Great thanks !
