  • I came across this video and wanted to add something. Yes, I have that image issue. No matter how small I became I still saw myself as big. I went from a size 24 down to a 7-8 . I still would go to the plus size area. One day I saw something in the Jr. dept I loved. It was a size 7-8 . I put it on and was in SHOCK!!!

  • My date for surgery is May 19th as well!!!

Good luck to you! And yes I agree with what you are saying. I am hoping that down the road my body and mind will jive.

  • Totally hear you on this. I feel like I wasn't getting a ton of reminders until I was over 250 but then there were so many times that I'd be reminded - oh, right! - that weighing 300 pounds means the smallest things, like chairs and seat belts, aren't built to accommodate you. I definitely didn't see myself as big as I was - it's weird, now that I'm 200, I feel like my image in the mirror finally matches up with the image I had in my head forever.

  • What a great vid - CONGRATS on your date! I go through the same thing with uncomfortable reminders, especially when the judgement is on people's faces (from those who love me even!). I've have the chair thing and other things similar too. I'm looking forward to not having to worry about chairs! What works for me is to take those "reminders" and turn them into positives about how great person I am and the good progress of moving in the right direction! =D

  • that's exactly what we go thru... the body image is a mind thing totally and can really mess with us...

i didn't realize i was as big as i was until i saw pictures of myself..and now when I do my laundry, i can't believe the jeans i am hanging are mine, they seem too small. so strange.

  • I kinda think/feel the same way you do. I am very AWARE of the fact that I'm big. But unless I get reminded, then I get self-consious. LOL :)
